I was told, many moons ago, that I should cloak affiliate links from my site. No-one told me why. Someone said that my affiliate details could be stolen. Well, that didn’t make too much sense to me as anyone is welcome to my Clickbank or Payspree IDs as they only thing they can do is to add money to my accounts!
The real reason why it’s a good idea to cloak links is to get a better page score from the search engines. Google, in particular, will look less favorably on a site with loads of exit hoplinks and affiliate links.
This free tool solves that problem easily and effectively:

Thanks for the tip on the free Link Cloaking tool. Great stuff! I know there is a lot of talk in the IM circle about “over delivering” to your customers but it is nice to see someone actually practice it. IMO you did that with the E-Cover Creater and again with this tip.
Thanks, Doug. Don’t forget you can grab 75% commission on the Ecover Creator paid instantly direct to your Paypal account. Here is the link: http://payspree.com/affs.php?pid=1942
What a fantastic tip on cloaking. I enjoyed it. A nice short video but packed with such a simple, easy to understand solution. It’s funny – I was just going through many of my emails to unsubscribe to many… but you, not a chance. Your email is staying with me. Thanks. Maria Mekus
The cloaking program is great I will use this – I have a question for you. Which program did you use to create the video above ? (the one with the yellow circle on the mouse pointer that goes red when you click)
Camtasia. It’s one of my must-have programs, Mark.
It’s not cheap at $300 or so but it is worth every penny. There is a lite, free tool made by the same company called Jing. It is limited on features but good to start off with. http://www.techsmith.com/jing/
